We’ve received disappointing news that our organisation won’t be funding any management or coaching staff for the ITF World Cup in Argentina. Mr. Trotter and I have been working behind the scenes to find a solution, recognising that our competitors will require coaching and management support both before and during the tournament.

Our proposed solution open to anyone from around New Zealand wishing to attend the World Cup. It involves offering the option to join a setup providing support for the tournament, drawn from those indicating their attendance. This will be financed by the competitors and supporters themselves, but participation is voluntary. If you’re content with arranging your own manager and coach, that’s perfectly acceptable. Those opting to join this team will be asked to contribute $200 if you are competing, and $100 if you are a supporter, which will directly subsidise the expenses of the management team.

The designated staff members are Mr. Mark Trotter as Head Coach and Ms. Carmen Yip as Manager.

ROLE OF THE HEAD COACH

The Head Coach will coordinate support during the tournament with assistance from other senior competitors. This tournament will require a collaborative effort, and we’ll be relying on the help of many within the team. The Head Coach will provide direction and guidance to all those involved in supporting roles.

(Please note that this coaching is separate from Mr. Trotter’s Friday Night squad sessions.)

ROLE OF THE MANAGER

The Manager will handle group accommodation arrangements (based on team feedback) and make necessary bookings. She will oversee registration in the ITF database and handle administrative tasks during the tournament. While it’s expected that the team will stay together at one accommodation, it’s not mandatory.
