Self-defence Handbook

This is about getting home safely to your family, whatever that takes. There is nothing more important than your safety and your family’s safety.

This handbook outlines the coloured belt self-defence syllabus of International Taekwon-Do. It is an holistic approach, from avoiding dangerous situations, through de-escalating, physical response, and recovering from an incident.

This book is essential reading for all members of International Taekwon-Do, and anyone interested in learning about defending themselves and their loved ones.

An excellent training resource for all International Taekwon-Do students.

– Master Evan Davidson, VIII dan, President of ITFNZ

We are proud to have assisted in the development of what is now the most relevant and functional self-defence syllabus offered in the New Zealand martial arts community. Master McPhail and Mr Banicevich have done an outstanding job, creating an invaluable resource which is required reading for anyone serious about self- protection.

– Phil Thompson, International Director, Protect Self Defence

It lists all techniques that should be known by the student at each belt level.

The handbook also includes information on scoring for gradings, the fitness test, and the of responsibilities of black belts.

This handbook contains 60 pages printed on quality gloss art paper. It is a must for all members from black stripe and above.

This handbook is issued free to every new ITKD member, but if you have lost yours or would like it as a give away gift to friends overseas.

Techniques Syllabus Handbook for Kids

Our standard Techniques Handbook has been simplified and presented in a new format, making it easy for the children to read and follow. It is designed for children up to the age of about ten.

Full of photographs and pictures, this simplfied version of the handbook makes the learning of theory easy and fun for kids. It contains 36 pages.

Mini-Kids Workbooks

These workbooks accompany the iTKD Mini-kids programme designed by Auckland Instructor Mrs Shirley Pygott.

The children are not taught a ‘watered down’ version of Taekwon-Do; rather they are taught the same techniques and skills that older children and adults learn in the ITKD grading syllabus, in a carefully sequenced order, that is appropriate for their stage of physical and mental development.

BOOK 1 – 10th Gup (White belt) to 9th Gup (Yellow stripe)

BOOK 2 – 9th Gup (Yellow stripe) to 8th Gup (Yellow belt)
